As spring slowly creeps in, I love to see the birds coming back from a long winter. I'm going to start a list of all the birds we see through the fall and I'll try to photograph them but my camera doesn't have a great zoom on it so I know they won't be the best. First on my list is the Dark-eyed Junco, the Oregon Race. They are similar in size to chickadees but have a solid dark brownish black head. If you want to see some really nice photographs then look here. I would love to see other bloggers do this so I could watch the birds coming back all over the U.S. Wouldn't that be fun? Let me know if you do and I'll link you up!
I made this little wristlet for a friends daughter. How can you not love a little chick dressed up in her Easter bonnet?!
We'll be dyeing our eggs today. The smell of warm vinegar always bring back sweet memories of Easters past :) We've had a couple of snowstorms and our once snow-free yard is now covered again. Looks like we'll be egg hunting inside (again) this year. Happy Easter everyone!
I'm so glad to be home after a stressful weekend! I missed the blogosphere and seeing all the crafty goodness that everyone has been up to. I totally struck out in my thrift shop adventures but I did get some new fabric and buttons that I'm really happy with. I even got my haircut at one of those walk-in places, something I've never done before. I was so frustrated with my hair one morning before going out to breakfast that I had my 12 year old daughter trim it with the only scissors I had available - Swiss Army knife scissors - while looking over my shoulder with a pocket mirror. I figured if I'm desperate enough to do that then I don't have much to lose by just walking in somewhere. I'm very pleased with the outcome and now I don't have to worry about my hair for another couple of months!
I started fooling around with, in other words cutting up, a wool sweater that I got at the thrift and had felted. I made cat bed pallets out of the main front and back and a dog collar from the sleeve! I cut a slice from the sleeve and blanket stitched the edge to make a cute little collar, or neckwarmer, for our Westie. I think I'm going to put her name on it too. Doesn't she look cute? :)
I'm a little embarrassed at the stitching, it could be a lot better but I was in a bit of a hurry.
I'll be out of town for the next couple of days and I'm hoping I'll get to do some thrifting which I don't get to do very often. I'll post any goodies I get when I come home. Have a great weekend everyone!
