Last Minute Gift Idea
I saw this in one of my new Japanese craft books and thought it was a great idea, especially for a last minute gift. It's one of those travel tea/coffee mugs where you can customize the insert - like putting a picture in a frame. I've seen them at Starbucks but I'm sure they are available other places too. I love the idea of putting a stitched piece inside but any vintage textile would look really great. Click on the pictures for a larger view.
This is the book where I saw the idea. (ISBN#4-529-04180-8) I got several new books that I'll post after Christmas but this is one of my favorites - lots of good stuff :)
Cassi, I love your trees and the idea of putting stitchery (for me, knitting) inside one of those Starbucks cups is just fabby!
Also a use for all my felting experiments that didn't 'take', and a vehicle for needle felting, and NEXT YEARS TEACHER GIFTS and.....

I love these ideas! The fleece scarf is beautiful, I'm going to have to make another one now that I've seen this one. The lace is a nice touch I hadn't seen before.

I just happened to buy one of those at Starbucks for Hubby's stocking. Was going to collage a nice pic of the kiddo for him inside--now I can consider utilizing this idea too!

Cassi, I have this book too. You're right, there are some really great ideas in it for Christmas! I briefly thought about making one of those travel mugs, but then decided I would maybe make one for myself after Christmas (I still drive around holding my tea in an open mug).
