Shop Update Preview: Mushroom Forest Pincushion

Img_5885_2

I haven't been posting much because I'm busy working on a shop update, I know, finally! This little pincushion is one of my new designs that I'm calling Mushroom Forest. I've got a lot on my plate right now but I'm hoping to put the new items in my shop the first week of November. If you join my email list then I'll send you a notice with the exact time as soon as I know it. The information is at the top of the left-hand column.

With all my sewing lately I'm dealing with a bit of carpal tunnel, well, I guess that's what it is - wrist pain and burning and the same running along my forearm down from my thumb. I wear one of those wrist supports when I'm not sewing and sleeping and it seems to help. Anybody else have this?

Thank you so much for all the nice comments on my felt flowers, I'm really glad you like them :) Back to work now...

You slay me! Just when I think I've seen your cutest you pull this out of your crafty behind. I am such a fan.

I loved doing the flower pincushion from the Softies book. I hope you come out with a tutorial for your cool felt houses. I would love to try and make some for Christmas!

Very cute! Can I link your blog to mine?

Here is my blog:

I hope your wrist is better soon. My mom had that, it is a real bummer...:(

I get the yucky burning, tingling, pain up the forearm thing to. All the time, in fact. But it doesn't stop us, does it? Love the mushroom forest. Can't wait to see your new shop items!

Adorable!!!!

I suffer with CTS too - need to have that surgery, but keep putting it off!

Knitting, hand sewing and embroidery all aggravated my wrist problems to the point that I could not open doors, pick up pots and stuff like that. It was horrible. I agree about sleeping with your splints and being very vigilant about the position of your hands and wrists during sleep. My other solution? I took up machine sewing, and that's now my venue. How I miss knitting! But it just doesn't seem meant to be. Now if I knit just an inch of a sock, pow, all the pain returns. I mention this to stress how important it is to rest and take care of yourself before the problem gets away from you.

I get the lovely carpal tunnel-esque pain quite often as well from my excessive cake decorating habit. I second the motion for wrist braces and meds. Better living through chemistry!

This is just so creatively done. I adore it. Also like the fall background. I met a knitwear designer on the train recently and she said she didn't get carpal tunnel when she knit because she knew the art of relaxing while knitting. Hope that helps!

hi cassi! YES i have experienced all sorts of wrist arm and finger pain from sewing and embroidering. i thought it was carpal tunnel, but found out from my doctor that it was a tendon injury from overuse...doing too much in too short of time until it hurts. i was also using a brace, but found out i was actually making things worse!

i find that ibubrofen and vitamin C helps along with alternating ice and heat and lots of arnica oil along with a few days of rest.

take care of yourself.

Lindos! :-D

adorable pin cushion!

this pin cushion is adorable, I do love your pin cushions soooo much!!

This is so sweet. I wish my grandma was still sewing because she would just love this. I love it too. I think my grandma came to mind because growing up she had mushroom canisters and wallpaper in her kitchen. She also sewed for more than 1/2 a century before her fingers wouldn't allow her to do it any longer. Love the colors.

very cool and funky lookin

That is so cute!

I'm dying of cuteness over here!

I just love the pin cushion! I get the wrist pain from the computer work I do. Ibuprofen (sp?) and the wrist support work. Good luck with that!

Beautiful pincushion... and really, rest is the only "right" answer. Been there...

Your creations are truly divine!
I'm sorry to hear about your wrist/hand...I hope you feel better soon!

I, too, have joined the Sisterhood of Repetitive Stress Injuries. Bummer. I just got done completely revamping my work space to meet the ergonomic specifications of my occupational therapist. I sure hope it helps. Ideally, you'd give your hands a rest but, knowing you, this is a highly unreasonable request.

the pincushion is just amazing. great work!

Oh, the mushrooms are adorable !

You are amazing Cassie!! Just amazing. xo.

Your pincushions never cease to surprise and delight me :). Mushrooms are a special favorite of mine, though, and so seasonal! Lovely.
