Exciting New Project Coming Soon: Christmas Book and Activity Advent!

thankyou
This is a picture of the thank you gifts and cards that I'm including with all my orders. The little flowers can be used as pins or to decorate a package or another handmade project. Yea for handmade!

In other news, today is my 47th birthday! I told the kids that a perfect day for me would be to sit at the computer all day and play Sims while they brought me tea and rubbed my feet! Although they are willing (sweet kids I have) I'm not able. I have orders to get out and gifts to make and general holiday busy-ness calling my name. I just can't relax when there are so many things to do.

Tommy and gingerbread house
I'm very excited about a new project I'll be sharing with you all for the month of December. As you may or may not know, we do a Christmas book advent here at our house. Each night one of the kids chooses a book from our stack of Christmas stories and we read it together. It's a great time to share old favorites as well as add new ones. This year I'm going to list a book, or two, for each day leading up to Christmas and also a little activity to do with your kids. There will be cooking, crafting, and fun galore! I'll post the book list as I usually do and I'll try and get together a resource list of things you'll need for the crafts etc. in the upcoming week.

Happy Birthday wishes to Jane too, we share a birthday - how cool is that?! And, of course my twin sister who is the best of the best!

A Tiny HTML Tutorial: title tags

Img_4633
Okay, put your mouse over the picture above - next to your cursor the information should say "Img_4633_2"   See it?

Img_4633_2
Now, do the same on this picture.  Instead of "Img_4633_2" you should see "Toulouse".  You change this by changing the information for the title tag in the html of your post.

How you do it:

Go to where you see the html for your post.  For the image above, the html looks like this:

< a href="http://belladia.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2007/11/25/img_4633.jpg"img width="350" height="262" border="0" src="http://belladia.typepad.com/bella_dia/images/2007/11/25/img_4633.jpg" title="Img_4633_2" alt="Img_4633_2" / > < /a >

The tag in red is the title tag.
Between the quotes is where you put the information that you want to show up when someone puts their cursor on your picture.  So, if I want to say, "Toulouse between the sheets" then I put that info between the quotes like this:

title="Toulouse between the sheets"

Img_4633_3
Try the picture now...  Got it?  Easy peasy!

Just go slow, make sure you don't lose the quotation marks, and have fun.  It's a great way to give a little information about your picture.

Edited to say thank you to Alice for code help in making this post easier to read - Thanks Alice!

Shop Update Today 10 a.m. M.S.T.

Mosaic255159

Hello everyone!  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and aren't too stuffed to do some shopping.  Bella Dia Designs is finally stocked with some new items so I hope you'll have fun looking around.  The latest designs include Mushroom Forest pincushions, Wee Mushroom Houses and Wrist Corsage pincushions.

Wristpinpinkonwrist

The design for the Wrist Corsage Pincushion was one of several I contributed to the book Pretty Little Pincushions by Lark.  It has a removable strap so it can be used on your wrist or work table or even worn out to a fancy get-together!

These are all one-of-a-kinds except the Garden Party pincushion and I have two of those.  If more than one person clicks to purchase the same item before I can take the "Add to Cart" button off then the item will go to the first in line and I will send refunds to the others.

I ship everything Priority Mail through the U.S. Post Office so you will get it faster and be given a tracking number to keep your eye on it.

If you have a favorite I'd love to know what it is...

I can't promise, but I am trying to make more pincushions, and possibly purse organizers, available for Christmas.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Tiny Showcase: Winter Print Collection

Catia Chien

Tiny Showcase has a beautiful set of 4 prints for their Winter Print Collection and the best thing about it is they will all be available through the season. You can buy the whole collection or each print individually. It has two of my favorites: Catia Chien (above) and Jen Corace (below).

Button Bouquets

First, thank you so much for all the kind comments regarding my whining. As soon as I started reading your thoughtful words I began to feel better - just knowing that there are others that feel the same way and allowing me to vent brightened my day. A big hug to each and every one of you!

Second, there will be a shop update on Friday the 23rd. Yes, the day after Thanksgiving. It will be at 10 a.m. Mountain time (9 a.m. on the West coast and 12 noon on the East coast.) I hope you'll have time to take a peek amidst all the other happenings going on.

I've been having fun going through my button stash and making these little button bouquets. It's a great way to highlight some of your favorite vintage finds. I'm planning on putting up a tutorial for them after the holiday weekend.

Here's the supply list if you're interested in making some: a wooden spool of thread (I get old ones from the thrift shop), 3 or 4 buttons, floral tape, light weight floral wire, green crepe paper, some wall putty or clay or something similar, narrowish ribbon, glue, a small piece of felt for the base, wire snips, and scissors.

**oops! Thanks to Sarah, I corrected the East coast time zone!

The Forest and The Trees

Img_5771

Some days I think, Why even get out of bed? Man, I just can't keep up. Lots of people ask me, How do you do it all? Single mom, three kids, homeschool, 17 pets, self-employed... The answer? I don't. The house is a mess, leaves cover the yard, email needs to be answered, appointments need to be made, writing needs to be written, sewing needs to be sewn. I like to complete things but very little that I do is ever completed. You know what I mean? As soon as the dishes are clean there are dirty ones right behind and it's the same with all the household chores and maintenance. Just finished the laundry? Look out, here comes more. The holidays are especially hard since I barely keep up on a regular day and then I hate that I feel rushed and pissy when it's supposed to be a time of reflection and thankfulness and good will toward men. Anyway, sorry to whine, I don't like to do that here - I try to keep this my happy place ;)

Good stuff coming soon....
