Snoveling Show

Lately my days have been starting out exactly the same: wake up, have breakfast, get dressed, shovel snow. The shoveling keeps you pretty warm but when you come inside you realize the tip of your nose doesn't have any feeling and your lips feel like they've been given a dose of novacaine thus the title of my post: a slip up I've made on more than one occasion.
The bird is a Steller's Jay. They're related to the Blue Jay but we don't see many of those here. I think the Steller's Jay is gorgeous; the head and upper body are black and the rest is midnight blue.

My solar lanterns have been covered up
with snow. I like how they are like little windows in a snow wall.

A view of one of the mountains
behind our house.

Aren't these pretty ice crystals
on our back deck?
And now back to show snoveling...

Would you mind terribly, while you're out there shovelling, to blow a little in our direction, to send some snow northward to us, will you? It's been a pretty good year for snow, but I can't get enough. L
Thank you for sharing the pics.
Haven't seen so many Stellar's jays close in to the house yet this year, but I hear them squacking out in the trees.

beautiful photos. i am envious of the snow you have there. it has been unseasonably warm here recently and it feels more like spring than winter. i love your pictures - the snow, the beautiful winter light, the crystals. aaah.

Beautiful. I find so much inspiration in the snow---the designs and the way it contrasts against color.
As for the shoveling, at least it's great exercise...;-)

what a lovely place you live in. i've been raking leaves and trimming hedges. we're still holding on to some hope that charlottesville will see snow before spring sets in.

We have Stellar Jays here too. We have a few that show up 2x a day demanding to be fed! We don't mind at all.
The frost patterns are gorgeous! Wish I could replicate that sort of delicate beauty somehow.
Ah yes snoveling show! Perfect title - it really paints a picture.
A looong time ago I was doing the ABC a long with you. Well - tomorrow I am resuming where I left off --- the letter I.

Half of me is so jealous of your snow and ice crystals...while the other half is glad it is 60 deg outside. Happy new year!

I love my Stellar's Jays! They have so much personality don't thye? Mine come to the window of my art studio each day at 11:00 sharp to let me know they have arrived - then totally annihilate my bird feeder.
