Snoveling Show

Stellar jay
Lately my days have been starting out exactly the same: wake up, have breakfast, get dressed, shovel snow. The shoveling keeps you pretty warm but when you come inside you realize the tip of your nose doesn't have any feeling and your lips feel like they've been given a dose of novacaine thus the title of my post: a slip up I've made on more than one occasion.

The bird is a Steller's Jay. They're related to the Blue Jay but we don't see many of those here. I think the Steller's Jay is gorgeous; the head and upper body are black and the rest is midnight blue.

lanterns in the snow
My solar lanterns have been covered up
with snow. I like how they are like little windows in a snow wall.

snowy mountain
A view of one of the mountains
behind our house.

ice crystals
Aren't these pretty ice crystals
on our back deck?

mountain snow
Another mountain view.

And now back to show snoveling...

Would you mind terribly, while you're out there shovelling, to blow a little in our direction, to send some snow northward to us, will you? It's been a pretty good year for snow, but I can't get enough. L
Thank you for sharing the pics.
Haven't seen so many Stellar's jays close in to the house yet this year, but I hear them squacking out in the trees.

these are fantastic photos.

beautiful photos. i am envious of the snow you have there. it has been unseasonably warm here recently and it feels more like spring than winter. i love your pictures - the snow, the beautiful winter light, the crystals. aaah.

Beautiful. I find so much inspiration in the snow---the designs and the way it contrasts against color.

As for the shoveling, at least it's great exercise...;-)

what a lovely place you live in. i've been raking leaves and trimming hedges. we're still holding on to some hope that charlottesville will see snow before spring sets in.

Gorgeous photos and that little bird is very cute.
I wish you could send a bit of snow our way. Here in Melbourne, its going to be about 107 today. Way, way, too hot!

We have Stellar Jays here too. We have a few that show up 2x a day demanding to be fed! We don't mind at all.

The frost patterns are gorgeous! Wish I could replicate that sort of delicate beauty somehow.

Ah yes snoveling show! Perfect title - it really paints a picture.

A looong time ago I was doing the ABC a long with you. Well - tomorrow I am resuming where I left off --- the letter I.

What a lovely winter wonderland! So glad to have found your site through Flickr!

Wow, these are gorgeous pictures! It makes me want to be somewhere snowy, even if I'd have to snovel snow.

I just love the beautiful snow pictures! The Steller's Jay is absolutely beautiful, the shade of blue is amazing! Keep warm! :o)

Smiles...

Beverly

Half of me is so jealous of your snow and ice crystals...while the other half is glad it is 60 deg outside. Happy new year!

so nice to have you back - hope you had a nice break. would love to have some snow - we've been having 60 degree days here in NY.

you have mountains out back? cool.

I love my Stellar's Jays! They have so much personality don't thye? Mine come to the window of my art studio each day at 11:00 sharp to let me know they have arrived - then totally annihilate my bird feeder.

I live in Utah, and its been much the same here. Snow each day. My husband is out blowing and shoveling away right now. Love the photos. Its winter wonderland.

what state do you live in? I'm new to your blog...an addict now, thank you.

Those beautiful pictures *almost* make me miss the stuff!

Gorgeous pictures - I love the lanterns. What a good excuse to drink copious amounts of hot chocolate though!

It's lovely to see pictures of snow considering we don't get any in Western Australia :) Great shot of the bird on the roof:)

Nature is just so incredible sometimes. Now go and sit somewhere warm, quick!

The ice crystals are just amazing!

the ice crystals are gorgeous, at first glance i thought it was artwork!

Oh, so pretty. I love that glimmer/promise of light on the top of the last hill. :-) Stay warm!
