Light Blue Scarf with Fringe

Well, I finished the scarf and I have to say I am very pleased with the way it came out. I'm not a huge fan of fringe, especially really long fringe. I obsessively comb it with my fingers and I don't like the way it feels as if you've got little strings hanging around your neck. I had planned to put fringe on this scarf from the beginning - I thought it would help accentuate the vertical lines that I like so much - and I am happy to say that it really made the scarf come together. Also, before the fringe was on, the scarf didn't stay put very well, but the fringe acts as a weight and helps keep it in place. That made me feel better about the fringe too, at least it has a job to do. If there's any interest I'll do a little tutorial on fringe making: it's easy and fun :)

Scarf details: single crochet working in the front loop only; 150 chains to begin and 35 rows wide; approximately 2 skeins of Wool-Ease in Seaspray

Get Cozy

This little cozy started out as a drawstring bag but when I saw how cute my water bottle looked in it I immediately changed it to a cozy ;)

It works just as well for a glass cozy...

and I can always add the drawstring if I want to use it for it's original purpose :)

WIP: Pale Blue Crocheted Scarf

I thought I had successfully fought off this bug that's been going around but it finally got to me over the weekend. Not too bad, just enough to take away all my energy and keep me roaming around the house like a lost sheep. Anyway, here's a new scarf that I'm almost finished with. I love this color - it's called Seaspray.

I'm doing it all in single crochet and going under just the front loop so it creates this nice long vertical line. I think it looks a bit like knitting. Hopefully, I'll have some finished pictures later this week.

Cream Shell Stitch Crochet Scarf

Here's one of the scarves that I've made. I used cream Wool-Ease and a shell stitch. I love the pattern and it is surprisingly easy and fast. It's made up of double crochet and single crochet and the only tricky part to learn are the ends of the rows.

Here's a close-up of the shell: basically you do five double crochet in one stitch and then a single crochet when you come back around you do the five dc in the previous rows sc and a sc in the top of the five dc.

Winter Blues

For more inspiration take a look at Jane's lovely wavy striped blanket, and she completed it in 4 weeks no less.

My blanket is still a WIP but I don't have much further to go. I've been working on several scarves which will come in handy for this bitter cold we've been having lately; when I got to work the other morning it was 1˚F. The high is supposed to be 11˚F and the low -11˚F, yikes!

Everything is white everywhere you look.

I never tire of watching it snow, it always seems magical and it is incredibly quiet. But, I do get tired of the snow on the ground and the ice and four-wheel drive.
